WINNER of the IBPA Bill Fisher Silver Award for Best First Published Book.

A heartwarming picture book about independence, friendship, and learning that asking for help can be a superpower.

Reba is brave, strong, and sure she can do everything all by herself.

But when she tries to learn something new — riding a bike — she discovers that even the most capable kids sometimes need a little help, encouragement, and a friend by their side.

Inspired by the real-life bond between rhinoceroses and oxpeckers, Meet Reba is a warm and empowering story for children who are learning to do things on their own — and for the grown-ups cheering them on.

Perfect for kids who:

Love animals and nature
Are learning independence
Sometimes say, “I can do it all by myself!”
Need a gentle reminder that help is not the same as giving up
Enjoy warm, beautifully illustrated picture books

Parents, grandparents, teachers, and librarians will love that it:

Encourages confidence and resilience
Celebrates friendship and teamwork
Informative back-matter introduces the idea of symbiosis in an age-appropriate way
Supports social-emotional learning
Opens conversations about asking for help
Makes a meaningful gift for ages 3–8

With vibrant, hand-created illustrations and a story full of warmth, humor, and heart, Meet Reba reminds young readers that being brave doesn’t mean doing everything alone.

Recommended for ages 3–8.
